Summary Statement:

Function as full-time bus driver while supporting the daily operations of the transportation department by assisting the regional transportation director.

Essential Job Functions

• Performs standard driver duties.
• Transports residents and employees to / from destinations per assigned schedules.
• Assists all residents into and out of vehicle, as necessary. Secures passengers' wheelchairs to restraining devices to stabilize wheelchairs during trip.
• Operates radio or similar device to communicate with base station or other vehicles to report disruption of service.
• Cleans and services vehicles with fuel, lubricants, and accessories.
• Keeps records of trips and behavior of passengers.
• Secures all vehicle systems including windows, doors, and keys.
• Shares on-call responsibilities with regional director and responds to emergencies.
• Assists in training of new drivers.
• Assists with inspection of automotive equipment and repair or service scheduling.
• Assists in planning and directing safety campaigns.
• Assists in assigned company vehicles for use.
• Reports any vehicle problems or accidents immediately to regional transportation director.
• Forwards all expense and daily log sheets to materials management at the end of the month.
• In absence of regional director, supervises bus drivers, investigates all incidents / accidents and submits appropriate forms to corporate insurance company, maintains attendance reports and makes appropriate payroll entries.
• Performs other duties as assigned by regional transportation director.

Job Requirements

Critical Skills and Knowledge Necessary

The critical skills and knowledge required to successfully perform the functions of the position are normally obtained thru the completion of a high school education and obtainment of a commercial driver’s license (CDL) along with a minimum of two years work experience in the transportation field. Driving experience to be at minimum three years motor vehicle driving including one year commercial motor vehicle driving.

On the job training of three months will be required to learn the ACTS company policies and procedures.
