Summary Statement:

Supervise and maintain the safety and well-being of all aquatic members in and around the pool area.

Essential Job Functions

Please note that this list is not comprehensive and additional duties may be assigned at any time.

• Oversee and manage the functions of aquatic programs in the absence of the aquatic director or assistant aquatic director.
• Maintains a clean and safe environment by completing all maintenance tasks as scheduled.
• Perform necessary tasks in the case of an emergency as document in the emergency action plan.
• Represents the facility’s aquatic program in the community.
• Attends all staff training and meetings to remain updated on all department/facility activities and changes.
• Relay’s necessary information regarding equipment, safety and members to the aquatic director or assistant aquatic director as necessary.
• Opens and closes department according to established procedures.
• Maintains current professional certification (USWFA, AEA, RC).
• Assists with children’s swim lessons when necessary.
• Maintains a safe environment by monitoring members in and out of the water.
• Maintains a sign-on sheet.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Critical Skills and Knowledge Necessary

• Able to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing.
• Able to follow direction and ask questions appropriately.
• Ability to cooperate and interact with personnel from other departments, as well as with Residents and their families/visitors.

The critical skills and knowledge required to successfully perform the functions of the position include a minimum completion current CPR First Aid and Lifeguard Certification through the American Red Cross or YMCA.

Physical Demands

• Lifting 30 pounds and carrying 10-20 pounds short distances frequently. Weight greater than 30
• pounds require assistance from co-worker or use of lifting device
• Standing and walking frequently with occasional sitting
• Able to perform simple grasping and pushing/pulling 30 pounds frequently
• Reaching below knees to above head frequently
• Bending, kneeling and squatting occasionally
• Twisting and turning upper torso occasionally
• Talking and Hearing in person and on telephone
• Clear speaking voice
• Sense of smell
• Near acuity and color vision
