Essential Job Functions

  1. Prepares, reviews and coordinates nursing assignments and work schedules to assure attendance and makes arrangements for replacement as necessary.
  2. Formulates and directs individualized nursing care plans utilizing the nursing process.
  3. Performs nursing rounds, assesses each resident daily to observe for changes in condition and inspects residents’ environment for cleanliness, safety and comfort.
  4. Accompanies and assists the physician on rounds to ensure that pertinent information is communicated to him or her and transcribes and carries out physician’s orders.
  5. Adheres to Federal/State and Corporate guidelines in the delivery of nursing care by identifying potential hazards and implementing corrective action, as needed.
  6. Maintains accurate resident care records and documents pertinent data reflecting the use of the nursing process.
  7. Attends and participates in the resident-care meetings, staff meetings and mandated in-services.
  8. Provides teaching to residents, their families and other staff as necessary.
  9. Prepares equipment and aids physician during treatments and examinations of residents.
  10. Observes resident, records significant changes in conditions and notifies supervisor or physician of resident’s condition and reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents.
  11. Assists with direct resident care as needed.
  12. Evaluates nursing activities to ensure resident care, staff relations and efficiency of service are in accordance with ACTS standards.
  13. Participates in orientation and training of all nursing personnel.
  14. Maintains accurate narcotic counts.
  15. Responds to residents' needs, concerns or complaints and implements corrective action as indicated and reports the above to the Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON), Director of Nursing (DON) or Administrator, as applicable.
  16. Assists the DON in the job performance evaluation of nursing personnel, counsels and disciplines as needed.  Reports performance problems and attendance problems to the ADON, as applicable, or DON.
  17. Assesses critically ill residents to determine if all physical and emotional needs are met. 

Job Requirements

Critical Skills and Knowledge Necessary

  • CurrentStateLicense as Registered Nurse
  • Advanced knowledge of supervisory principles and practice
  • Advanced physical assessment skills
  • Advanced knowledge of nursing principles
  • Current or eligible for certification in Cardio/Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Intravenous Therapy
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Good oral and written communication skills in English

 The critical skills and knowledge required to successfully perform the functions of the position are normally obtained thru the completion of a nursing program resulting in a Registered Nurse License along with a minimum of 2 years related nursing work experience with increasing supervisory responsibilities.
